I have to remind myself every day about the omnipresence of the Lord. The fact that He is a personal God means He derives pleasure from being in our presence. Often times we let the "stuff" of life get in the way of being cognizant of that fact...but it is true nonetheless that He is with us at all times. What this song states--and was written to remind me-- is that wherever God is should be considered Holy ground. We are expected as His creation to give full reverence to this truth.
