From the recording I'm Going Home

Christmas day, 2012, is a date forever burned into my soul. It was on this day that my mom, Pansy, went home to the Lord. She battled cancer on and off for thirteen years and became the paradigm for people struggling with challenges in life.  She took it all head-on and without complaint. She trusted God that He was in ultimate control and that her circumstances had a greater purpose than just her ailments...she touched countless people's lives by her words, her deeds, and her example. I wrote this song just five days after she passed; I simply needed another outlet other than my tears. My hope is to honor her with words that I believe she would be saying right now. Forever loved, forever missed, and a true inspiration to everyone who had the benefit of knowing her.

Lyrics

This life has taken me
         Down the road with family
                  Love and happiness all around
Father, you’ve given me
         The battle scars of victory
Every step You've never let me down

Everything that I’ve been through
Made me strong, and made me true
Showing how Your love is greater than…
…the world that tried to be so tough
But, Lord, your love rained down on us
And brought us closer than we first began

                  I’m going home
                           Into my Father’s arms
                  And I’ll be waiting there
                           ‘til we meet again

It’s been a road that I have loved
         No regrets, it’s all because
Family was always there for me
But now the Lord has one more call
To take me where there’s no pain at all
Giving me eternal life that’s free

                  I’m going home
                           Into my Father’s arms
                  And I’ll be waiting there
                           ‘til we meet again
